Is there a difference between SYNC 3 and SYNC 4 Technology?
When SYNC® 3 was introduced into Ford vehicles, it instantly changed the onboard experience. However, our engineers never stopped asking themselves how they could improve it. The answer is SYNC 4 and SYNC 4A — the natural evolution in the SYNC story in name and a whole new chapter by virtue.*
How is SYNC 4 Technology different from SYNC 3?
From the outset, Ford engineers sought to create an incredible experience. They outdid themselves with:
- Twice the computing power of its predecessor, SYNC 3
- All-new cloud-based connectivity
- Wireless phone connection to Apple CarPlay,® Android Auto™ compatibility and SYNC AppLink®** when using a Bluetooth® enabled smartphone
- Custom touchscreen options
How does cloud connectivity work with SYNC 4 Technology?
How is SYNC 4A different from SYNC 4?
SYNC 4A is currently available on the Ford Mustang Mach-E and 2021 Ford Edge. It delivers all the features of SYNC 4, including:
- Navigation options — Connected Navigation (90 day trial)† or Connected Built-In Navigation (3 years of service)††
- Cord-free access to Apple CarPlay, Android Auto compatibility and SYNC AppLink when using a Bluetooth enabled smartphone
However, subtle evolutionary design cues and user interface options, like Adaptive Dash Card, make it an experience all its own.
