Answers for Owners and Shoppers

The F-150 Lightning will no longer be available to order in its current form, but we are working on transforming it as part of our Universal Electric Vehicle (UEV) platform. Our support for existing owners remains fully unchanged.

The F-150 Lightning is indeed evolving to continue leading the charge in advanced electric powertrains. The current F-150 Lightning redefined what a pure battery-electric pickup can do. For its next generation, we’re leveraging advanced Extended Range Electric Vehicle (EREV) technology. This means the new F-150 Lightning will offer you the best of both worlds: the seamless, instant power of an electric powertrain for most driving, combined with the freedom of a generator-backed extended range for ultimate versatility. This approach is designed to keep the F-150 Lightning at the forefront of electrified truck capabilities, providing a primarily electric driving experience with extended range peace of mind.

The Ford Universal Electric Vehicle (UEV) platform is designed to make EVs more accessible and capable than ever. It’s the foundation for a new generation of Ford EVs, including a mid-size electric truck, offering the performance, efficiency, and innovation you’ve come to expect from Ford.

We appreciate your excitement for the next generation of Ford EVs. While we are not yet prepared to announce specific availability dates, we can assure you our teams are hard at work bringing this innovative vehicle to life.
