2018 Expedition uses Hill Start Assist Descent Control on an off road downhill drive.

Hill Start Assist/Descent Control

Hill Start Assist/Descent Control helps keep your vehicle’s power and capability under control, particularly when you’re towing. When you’re stopped on an incline, standard Hill Start Assist automatically works with the anti-lock brakes to hold the vehicle in place for up to two seconds while you move your foot from the brake to the accelerator. On 4-WD models, you can activate standard Hill Descent Control so the braking system automatically engages as needed to help keep you in control while descending a steep grade.

360-Degree Camera

The available 360-degree camera with split-view display* uses four cameras (one in the grille, tailgate, and under each of the sideview mirrors) enabling you to see all sides of the vehicle on the eight-inch color LCD screen. It’s especially useful when maneuvering in tight spaces or on trails. The camera system includes front and rear washers to maximize visibility.
*Driver-assist features are supplemental and do not replace the driver’s attention, judgment and need to control the vehicle.
2018 Expedition driver synchronizes vehicle and trailer rakes using the available integrated trailer brake controller.

Integrated Trailer Brake Controller (TBC)

Integrated with the anti-lock brakes and trailer sway control, the available integrated trailer brake controller (TBC)* synchronizes vehicle and trailer brakes for seamless braking when towing a large boat or camper-trailer. TBC controls are easy to use and perfectly positioned to the right of the steering wheel.
*Compatible with electronically actuated trailer brakes including electric brakes and electric-overhydraulic brakes.
