How to Perform a Master Reset for My Ford® SYNC® Version

How do I reset SYNC* to factory settings?

Like any piece of complex technology, common issues with SYNC software can often be addressed by conducting a Master Reset. A Master Reset is also recommended when you are transferring vehicle ownership. In either case, the process erases all stored data within your SYNC system — including call history, text message info and previously paired phones.

What to do before you begin a SYNC system Master Reset.*

  • Your vehicle must be in Park and running, not in Accessory mode.
  • Make sure you are familiar with all of your vehicle’s controls.
  • Make sure you note any saved Navigation points and other personal data. If you don’t, you will lose all this info.
