How do I unpair my phone from SYNC?

You can unpair your device from your SYNC®* system using the instructions contained in this article.

Deleting a Paired Phone

Important: Your vehicle must be parked and running, and in an open location (e.g., free of overhead foliage, ceilings, etc.). 

Select your SYNC generation from the drop-down options below to learn how to unpair your phone with SYNC. If you need assistance determining the generation of your SYNC system, select the first drop-down option.

Identifying Your Vehicle's SYNC Generation

Your SYNC generation will appear on the right side of the page under the SYNC Current Version heading.

SYNC 4A

  1. Tap Settings or the Home icon on your vehicle's SYNC screen.
  2. Press Settings.
  3. Choose Phone List.
  4. Select the phone you would like to delete.
  5. Tap <Phone> Settings.
  6. Press Remove <Phone>.

SYNC 4

  1. Press the Phone tab on your vehicle's SYNC screen. 
  2. Tap Phone List
  3. Select a phone from the list. 
  4. Press the Delete symbol (trash can). A pop-up will appear.
  5. Tap Yes to remove the phone.

SYNC 3

  1. Press Settings on your vehicle's SYNC screen. 
  2. Tap Bluetooth®.
  3. Choose View Devices.
  4. Select the phone you want to delete.
  5. Press Delete.
  6. Tap Yes to confirm your selection.

SYNC with MyFord Touch®

  1. Press the Gear icon on your vehicle's SYNC screen.
  2. Select Settings.
  3. Tap Phone.
  4. Press Bluetooth®.
  5. Select the phone you want to delete.
  6. Tap Delete.

SYNC Generation (Gen) 1.1

  1. Select Phone on your vehicle's SYNC screen.
  2. Go to Bluetooth® Devices.
  3. Select the phone you want to delete.
  4. Press Delete.

SYNC Gen 1

  1. Press the Phone button on your SYNC system.
  2. Select Return.
  3. Press Bluetooth®.
  4. Select the phone you want to delete.
  5. Press Delete.
