How do I change Vehicle Connectivity settings with SYNC®*?

You can enable or disable Vehicle Connectivity through the settings menu of your SYNC system.

Turning Vehicle Connectivity Settings On and Off

Important: Ensure that your vehicle is on and running in a well-ventilated area, and it is in Park (P).

Select your SYNC generation (gen) from the drop-down options below to learn how to modify your SYNC connectivity settings:

Note: If you need assistance determining the generation of your SYNC system, select the first drop-down option. 

Identifying Your Vehicle's SYNC Gen

Two resources to help you identify your vehicle's SYNC gen are:

  • SYNC and Navigation Updates page and either:
    • Enter your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) and select Check for update.
    • Log in with your Ford credentials, choose a vehicle from your garage, and select Check for update.

Note: Your SYNC gen will appear on the right-hand side of the page.

SYNC 4A

To change the connectivity settings with SYNC 4A:

  1. Tap either the Home icon or Settings (based on your SYNC 4A software version) on your vehicle's SYNC screen.
  2. Select Connectivity.
  3. Choose Connected Vehicle Features.
  4. Toggle Vehicle Connectivity to your preference (On or Off).

We recommend keeping Vehicle Connectivity on for the best update experience.

SYNC 4

To change the connectivity settings with SYNC 4:

  1. Press Settings on your vehicle's SYNC screen.
  2. Tap Connectivity.
  3. Choose Connectivity Vehicle Features.
  4. Toggle Vehicle Connectivity to your preference (On or Off).

We recommend keeping Vehicle Connectivity on for the best update experience.

SYNC 3

To change the connectivity settings with SYNC 3:

  1. Tap Settings on your vehicle's SYNC 3 screen.
  2. Select FordPass®** Connect†.
  3. Press Connectivity Settings.
  4. Ensure all Connectivity Settings are enabled to access all FordPass features.
  5. To disable, slide the buttons to Off.

  • Connected Services such as:
    • Weather
    • News
    • Traffic
    • Navigation
    • Points of interest, and more
  • Bluetooth®†† Prioritization: Add, delete, and prioritize your Bluetooth- enabled devices with Bluetooth Prioritization.
  • Wireless App Projection: Customize the touchscreen SYNC AppLink®‡ display.
  • Manage Wi-Fi Networks: Add and delete your list of Wi-Fi networks.

*Don’t drive while distracted. Use voice-operated systems when possible; don’t use handheld devices while driving. Some features may be locked out while the vehicle is in gear. Not all features are compatible with all phones.
