Ford Climate Controls

There’s a lot of great new features in your Ford’s climate system. Here’s a few ways to help you use them most effectively and efficiently.

IF YOUR VEHICLE HAS AN ‘AUTO’ BUTTON…

Set it to your preferred temperature. When you get into your vehicle, the system will automatically adjust settings to reach your desired temperature. As the drive continues and the vehicle reaches your desired temperature, the blowers will turn down and the air temperature coming from the vents will become more moderate. If you’re too hot or too cold, simply adjust the set temperature setting.

IF YOUR WINDOW IS FOGGY…

Press the MAX DEFROST button. This turns your blowers to the highest setting, the temperature to highest heat, and directs all of the airflow to the vent located at the base of the windshield. Once the windshield is clear, press the AUTO button to maintain the interior temperature displayed.

IF YOUR CABIN INTERIOR IS VERY HOT…

Press the MAX A/C button. This turns your blowers to the highest setting, the temperature to the coolest setting, and directs all of the airflow to the vents located on the dashboard. Once the cabin temperature becomes comfortable, press the AUTO button to maintain the interior temperature displayed.

IF YOUR CABIN INTERIOR IS VERY COLD…

And you set the automatic temperature, but the blowers don’t turn on, it’s okay! This is so the climate system doesn’t make you colder. The warm air that normally comes out of your vents uses heat from the engine, so when the engine is cold (like when you first start your car), so is the air. When you are in AUTO, the climate control system will not turn on the blowers until the engine is warm enough to provide warm air. When that happens, you’ll hear the blowers turn on, and the warm air will start to flow from the vents by your feet.

IF YOU HAVE A PLUG-IN HYBRID OR BATTERY ELECTRIC VEHICLE…

Your vehicle is equipped with programmable Go-Times. This system will look at ambient temperature, electrical capacity of the plug, and several other factors to determine when it needs to turn on the climate system to get it to the desired temperature by your Go-Time. It will use power from the plug so you can increase your range by not having to run the climate system as hard once you start driving.

IF YOU HAVE AN ‘AUTO 1-2-3 SYSTEM’…

You have the ability to adjust how much air flows through the vents. Use “3” if you want more air flowing around inside the cabin, “1” if you want a quieter ride, or “2” if you want something in between.

IF YOU RECEIVE OR PLACE A CALL WITH YOUR BLOWERS ON…

The blowers in your climate system will automatically lower so you can hear and be heard better. Once the call is over, your blowers will return to their normal level. If you want to exit the voice blower limiting and bring the speeds back up, press the blower up button. Voice blower limiting will also disengage if you press MAX DEFROST or MAX A/C.
