How do I remote start* using FordPass®**?

After activating your FordPass® Connect modem, you will have direct access to remote start your vehicle in FordPass. Use the steps below for more information.

Remote Start Requirements

Before you begin, ensure the following conditions are met:

Remote Start Using FordPass

Select the option below that has your FordPass App experience listed for more details on how to remote start your vehicle in FordPass.

FordPass App 4.X Experience 

To remote start using the FordPass App 4.X Experience:

  1. Open the FordPass App. 
  2. Go to the Home screen.
  3. Press and hold the Engine Start button to start your vehicle. 

An alert will be displayed once your vehicle has started successfully. The alert banner displays for 10 seconds. 

FordPass App 5.X Experience - Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) Vehicles and Plug-In Hybrid Electric Vehicles (PHEVs)

To remote start ICE vehicles and PHEVs using the FordPass App 5.X Experience:

  1. Open the FordPass App. 
  2. Go to the Vehicle screen.
  3. Slide the Start toggle to the far right of your screen. 

The request will load, your vehicle status will change, and once your vehicle is on, the expected run time will appear.

FordPass App 5.X Experience - Battery Electric Vehicles (BEVs)

To remote start BEVs using the FordPass App 5.X Experience:

  1. Open the FordPass App. 
  2. Go to the Vehicle screen.
  3. Tap the Fan icon. 

    Note: Your vehicle's preconditioning will begin.

The request will load, your vehicle status will change, and once your climate is on, the expected preconditioning time will appear.

How can I personalize the remote start duration?

After remote starting, your vehicle can run for five, ten, or fifteen minutes before shutting off. This duration is configurable in your vehicle settings. If your vehicle fails to automatically shut off, you will be notified.
