How do I use SYNC®* AppLink®** with Android™devices?

SYNC AppLink works with most devices with Android OS 2.1 or later using voice commands or the SYNC touchscreen. 

Using the Touchscreen

To use SYNC Applink with your SYNC screen:

  1. Pair your phone with SYNC.
  2. Press the Apps button in the Feature bar at the bottom of the SYNC touchscreen.
  3. Press the icon of the app you would like to use. 

    Note: You may be prompted with messaging asking you to enable mobile apps. Select Yes to enable mobile apps. When your choice has been confirmed, press Close and reselect the app you would like to use.

  4. Once you’ve accessed the app, you can use the steering wheel controls to control it. 

Using Voice Commands

To use SYNC Applink with voice commands:

  1. Pair your phone with SYNC.
  2. Press the Voice button and say, “Mobile apps.”
  3. SYNC will respond, “Mobile apps, please say a command.” 
  4. Say “List mobile apps” to hear the names of available apps. 
  5. Speak the name of the app you wish to use.

    Note: You may be prompted with messaging asking you to enable mobile apps. Select Yes to enable mobile apps. When your choice has been confirmed, press Close and reselect the app you would like to use.

  6. Once you’ve accessed the app, you can use the steering wheel controls and voice commands to control it.

*Don’t drive while distracted. Use voice-operated systems when possible; don’t use handheld devices while driving. Some features may be locked out while the vehicle is in gear. Not all features are compatible with all phones.
