This V8 optimizes low-end torque, and the variable-cam timing helps to optimize high-output power. And for the durability also required, the 7.3L features a cast-iron block with four-bolt and cross-bolted main bearings plus a forged-steel crankshaft.       6.7L 4V OHV Power Stroke® V8 Turbo Diesel

      The available 6.7L Power Stroke® V8 Turbo Diesel engine has a 36,000-psi fuel-injection system, featuring injectors that can atomize fuel up to eight times per stroke to optimize combustion. It also features a durable block, cylinder heads, connector rods and bearings, plus forged-steel pistons, which make 485 hp at 2,600 rpm and 1,050 lb.-ft. of torque at 1,600 rpm. Finally, the engine features an electric-actuated variable-geometry turbocharger that improves throttle response.

      TorqShift® 10-speed Automatic Transmission

      TorqShift 10-speed automatic transmissions offer enhanced low and mid ranges and three overdrive gears for optimum towing power and performance. You also get to choose from five selectable modes — Normal, Slippery, Tow/Haul, Eco and Deep Sand/Snow. Super Duty® models with the available Tremor® Off-Road Package have an additional Rock Crawl mode.
      6.8-liter gas V8 engine

      6.8L 2V DEVCT PFI Gas V8

      New for 2023, the all-new 6.8L gas V8 comes with greater horsepower and torque than the previous 6.2L flex-fuel engine. It’s engineered to deliver peak torque at lower rpm and generates high torque throughout the midrange of the power band. And like all Super Duty® truck engines, the 6.8L is teamed up with the powerfully built TorqShift®-G 10-speed automatic transmission capable of handling your toughest trucking needs.

      Diesel Engine-exhaust Braking

      The 6.7L Power Stroke® Turbo Diesel engine incorporates a driver-activated engine-exhaust brake. It restricts the turbocharger’s exhaust flow to generate back pressure and slow the vehicle, providing a reduced need for friction brakes while traveling downhill, regardless of vehicle load or road grade. Also, because the engine brake helps minimize having to apply pedal pressure, brake fade and lining wear are reduced. Three settings are available: On, Off and Auto. The Auto setting modulates engine braking as needed to help maintain the speed you want based on accelerator and brake pedal use.
