How do I use a bike rack with Reverse Brake Assist* in my Ford?

If you have Reverse Brake Assist and would like to use accessories such as a bike rack, you may need to turn the feature off to prevent unintended stopping.

To turn off Reverse Brake Assist:

  1. Tap Settings on your vehicle's SYNC screen.
  2. Select Driver Assistance.
  3. Tap Reverse Brake Assist.
  4. Toggle the feature to Off.

Note: The feature defaults back to On after each key cycle for all 2020 model-year and older vehicles and some 2021 model-year vehicles.

If you would like to have this menu setting remembered across multiple key cycles, you have the option of taking your vehicle into a Ford dealership to receive a software update that enables Reverse Brake Assist to remain off.
