In a collaborative effort with ABC’s “Jimmy Kimmel Live,” Ford presented Lt. Roberto “Rob” Guerra, a registered nurse in the U.S. Navy Reserve Nurse Corps who has been treating COVID-19 patients, with a new Ford F-150 for his birthday.

Lt. Guerra was given only two days’ notice and deployed to the front lines of the crisis, working nonstop under overwhelming conditions at a makeshift hospital in New York City.

Jimmy Kimmel Live heard about Lt. Guerra’s story and wanted to feature him on his ongoing “Health Care Heroes” series. Ford had also learned about Lt. Guerra saving up money to buy a new truck and decided to spring into action.

During Lt. Guerra’s post-deployment quarantine, which he spent at a hotel, Kimmel, along with Lt. Guerra’s wife and daughters, surprised him with a live video call.

“I know you haven’t been able to see your family in person for over a month – let’s bring them up. Live from their driveway in Palmetto, Florida: the rest of the Guerra family,” said Kimmel on his ABC late-night show. “We heard you were saving up for a new truck for your growing family, so we called our friends at Ford and they wanted you to have this brand-new Ford F-150 to thank you and to say happy birthday.”

Lt. Guerra was shocked to see the new Ford F-150 parked on his driveway alongside his family, filled with personal protective equipment. Kimmel explained that both the truck and the medical equipment were a gift from Ford as part of the Proud to Honor program.

Thank you, Lt. Guerra, for answering the call. We’re proud to honor you and your wonderful family.
