Ready to Take on Your Beat

It’s optimized for local patrol and response. Compared with traditional police cruisers, the Ford Police Responder® Hybrid Sedan gives the long arm of the law a potentially smaller carbon footprint – thanks to potentially reduced CO2 emissions.* It’s also purpose built to meet the unique demands of police operations.

*Burning a gallon of E10 ethanol fuel produces about 17.68 pounds of CO2 emitted from the fossil fuel content, according to data provided by the U.S. Energy Information Administration

The Ford Special Service Plug-In Hybrid Sedan

For detective, administrative or other specialized use, the Special Service Plug-In Hybrid Sedan offers a potential way to help reduce fuel usage and CO2 emissions while personnel are on duty. For non-pursuit applications, it offers zero-fuel, zero-emissions operation in full-battery mode combined with the flexibility of a gasoline-electric hybrid powertrain for extended range. The 7.6-kWh lithium-ion battery charges in approximately 2.5 hours* using an optional 240V charger. It can also be charged overnight with the standard 120V charger that plugs into any standard wall outlet. Either way, when fully charged, there’s an EPA-estimated rating of up to 25 miles** of electric-only power before the gasoline-electric hybrid drivetrain seamlessly takes over. The Special Service Plug-In Hybrid Sedan offers a purpose-built interior, a variety of lighting packages and other options tailored for law-enforcement needs.
*Charge times vary. See owner's manual for details.
**Range calculation based on fueleconomy.gov. Actual range varies with conditions, such as external elements, driving behaviors, vehicle maintenance and lithium-ion battery age.

Safety: Part of Our DNA

The Police Responder Hybrid Sedan was designed and developed to meet the same federal fuel system crash standards as retail vehicles and other manufacturers’ police vehicles. The Police Responder Hybrid Sedan does not have the size or heavy structure necessary to meet the 75-mph rear-impact crash test. Ford Police Interceptors are the only vehicles on the market designed for the 75-mph rear-impact crash test.

Bold Exterior Options

The Ford Police Responder Hybrid Sedan comes in a variety of different exterior colors direct from the factory. White vinyl color treatments are available for traditional two-tone schemes.

Non-original equipment can adversely impact vehicle crash performance. For example, push-bars could adversely affect airbag deployment in frontal impacts and prisoner barricades could result in head and neck trauma in high-speed rear impacts. Due to the variability of equipment installed, based on individual law-enforcement agency requirements, Ford does not test aftermarket equipment for functionality with Ford components. Law enforcement must balance needs for function and other officer safety concerns when equipping police vehicles with non-original equipment.
