Ford Super Duty® for 2022 offers a strong line of powerful engines. The available pushrod 7.3L gas V8 delivers durability and performance for strenuous everyday jobs. And the third-generation available Power Stroke® V8 Turbo Diesel is stronger than ever. Both are teamed up with the TorqShift® 10-speed automatic transmission (with the exception of F-250 models). So, whether you choose gas or diesel, you have the muscle you need for hauling or towing.

BEST GAS HORSEPOWER AND TORQUE IN ITS CLASS

The 7.3L OHV PFI gas V8 engine in the 2022 Ford Super Duty® is the most powerful gas engine in a full-size pickup and the largest V8 in its class, with the best gas horsepower and torque in its class to prove it. The third generation of the 6.7L Power Stroke® V8 Turbo Diesel engine is stronger, quieter and more efficient than ever before. With an available 1,050 lb.-ft. of torque at 1,600 rpm and best-in-class* diesel horsepower at 475 hp at 2,600 rpm (a lower RPM than any other engine), the 6.7L Power Stroke V8 Turbo Diesel engine on the 2022 Ford Super Duty® ensures you have the power you need to get the job done.

DIESEL ENGINE EXHAUST BRAKING

The 6.7L Power Stroke® Turbo Diesel incorporates a driver-activated engine-exhaust brake. It restricts the turbocharger’s exhaust flow to generate back pressure and slow the vehicle, providing greater control while traveling downhill, regardless of vehicle load or road grade. Also, because the engine brake helps minimize having to apply pedal pressure, brake fade and lining wear are reduced, lowering the cost of maintenance. Three settings are available: On, Off and Auto. The Auto setting modulates engine braking as needed to help maintain the speed you want based on accelerator and brake pedal use.

Natural Gas and Propane Gas logos

ADVANCED FUEL CAPABILITY

Compressed natural gas (CNG) and propane autogas are advanced fuel options to unleaded gasoline with the CNG/Propane Gaseous Engine Prep Package* available on the 6.2L gas V8. What’s more, the CNG/Propane Gaseous Engine Prep Package with the addition of the necessary upfits for bi-fuel capability enables the 6.2L V8 to run on either liquefied propane gas or unleaded gas. The 6.2L V8 is a flex-fuel engine, capable of running on E85 (85% ethanol, 15% regular gasoline); the available 6.7L Power Stroke® Turbo Diesel is B20 capable (20% biodiesel, 80% petrodiesel).
*Vehicle will be equipped with the standard factory gasoline fuel system. The CNG/Propane Gaseous Engine Prep Package includes hardened exhaust valves and valve seats. It does not include compressed natural gas/propane fuel tanks and lines, etc. See your dealer for details.

OPERATOR-COMMANDED REGENERATION WITH ACTIVE INHIBIT (DIESEL)

Some operating conditions, such as long idling, don’t generate enough engine heat for the diesel to automatically burn off soot in the diesel particulate filter. That’s where available Operator-Commanded Regeneration with Active Inhibit (diesel only) comes in. When the warning light comes on, pushing the activation button raises the exhaust temperature to burn off the soot, after which the exhaust temperature reverts to normal. The active inhibit feature allows delay of regeneration when the vehicle is sitting over combustible materials, such as dry leaves or grass. Once in a safe place, the driver can manually start the regeneration process. Recommended for commercial applications.
