The main difference between C-MAX Hybrid and C-MAX Energi is the plug-in capability. C-MAX Energi has an external charge port and a larger lithium-ion battery than the lithium-ion battery in C-MAX Hybrid, for an all-electric driving experience. The vehicle can fully charge overnight, using the standard 120-volt convenience cord, or in as little as 2.5 hours*, using the available 240-volt home charging option.

Option to Plug In-Or Not

C-MAX Energi plug-in hybrid gives you the option of plugging in for a recharge or not plugging in. C-MAX Energi combines an advanced lithium-ion battery and electric motor with a gasoline engine. The plug-in capability allows you to fully charge the vehicle in as little as 2.5 hours*, using the available 240-volt home charging option, or overnight, with a 120-volt outlet and standard convenience cord. C-MAX Energi uses an air-cooling system to regulate battery temperature and help maximize battery life. Another feature, EV Mode, lets you choose which mode to drive in – electric only, gasoline only, or a combination of gas and electric.

Charging Options and Charge Times

The C-MAX Energi plug-in hybrid comes equipped with a 120-volt charge cord for convenient charging at home or anywhere you have the opportunity to plug in. A full charge can take approximately 7 hours. For quicker, more efficient charging, it is recommended to upgrade to an available 240-volt charging station, which can allow you to fully charge in approximately 2.5 hours*. Illuminated Charge Port

The C-MAX Energi plug-in hybrid charge port, located between the driver's door and front wheel well, the port will illuminate by quadrants to indicate its current level of charge. When all four quadrants are illuminated, the vehicle has fully charged.

Monitor and schedule charging for your C-MAX Energi from just about anywhere to help you maximize your range. Remote charging status updates allow you to check charge levels and available range as well as locate your vehicle and view nearby public charging stations. The app and website also estimate the amount of CO2 emissions based on your driving style.
