You’re diverting to a farmer’s market or restaurant and need parking: Waze locates the garage or lot nearest your goal so you can select that as your destination, then select “mark your parking spot” for tracing your steps back later.

You’re mulling the next day’s fun and want a scenic route: In town or between towns, Waze lets you see three alternative routes after you set a destination, in either a list view or a map view, with the time it will take as well as notes about events or problems on the way.

That was fun, but you’re running way late and need to alert a friend up ahead: Tap the Send ETA button, pick a contact and Waze will text them your arrival time. If they have Waze, they can follow your progress.

You’re in unfamiliar territory and gas is low: Hit a button and Waze will show you gas stations with prices along your route. You can set it to show only your preferred station brand or type of gas.
