Just like a gas-powered vehicle, an electric vehicle will be a means of getting you from point A to point B. An electric vehicle will simply do it while emitting absolutely no CO2 emissions. Oh, and of course, you won't stop to fill up at a gas station. You'll plug your vehicle in to recharge the battery.
A Ford all-electric vehicle will also give you helpful information like suggesting the most efficient route to your destination and real-time data about the battery's charge level.
The Hybrid
Smart Dashboard
1 of 6
Shows how much power is being used by vehicle accessory systems such as air conditioning, headlamps or audio system.
2 of 6
Indicates how close the electric motor is to handing off to the gas engine.
3 of 6
Shows when the High-Voltage Battery is being charged with the energy captured from braking.
4 of 6
Shows how much fuel is in the tank. When the level gets low – 50 miles to empty – the level indicator alerts you by turning from amber to yellow.
The All-Electric
Smart Dashboard
2 of 7
A simple graphic lets you know whether you're driving within the “budget” necessary to reach your destination. The more you drive within “budget,” the more you extend the range of the vehicle.
3 of 7
After braking and coming to a complete stop, it lets you know the percentage of energy captured and returned to the battery
7 of 7
The more efficiently you drive, the more you increase the range of your vehicle. This added range is represented by butterfly graphics that appear on the right cluster screen and the center stack screen. Why butterflies? Because of the “Butterfly Effect”, which recognizes that even the smallest change can have a global effect.

Value Charging powered by Microsoft ® automatically allows you to charge at the lowest utility rate.
In stop and go driving and at low speeds, the electric motor provides the necessary power, with the gas engine only kicking in to recharge the battery or when more power is needed.
Step on the gas and get all the responsiveness of a traditional gasoline engine.
The gasoline engine provides the power you need for highway driving.
For added efficiency, the energy created by friction during braking is recycled to the battery.
To save energy, the gasoline engine shuts off and the electric motor stops drawing current.

Ford recommends preconditioning your electric vehicle while it's still plugged in to help maximize your range. By setting your departure time and the ideal temperature before you leave, you can conserve battery energy by only using power from the wall for the electric air conditioning or heater to attain your preconditioned temperature setting. With the free MyFord® Mobile app, you can schedule your EV to cool down or heat up from your smartphone.
